FAQs
- Your Influence It! approach and Real POWER for Women newsletter seem to be focused on females only … can these principals be applied to men as well to get the same successful results?
Absolutely! As you’ll see throughout the website, the Influence It! approach was initially gender -neutral and was originally used with a largely male population. Dr. Keller was providing executive training and coaching to mostly male business professionals OR male executives looking for professional coaching solutions for their female employees. However, after seeing the need for – and lack of – a customized program for personal and professional development just for women, Dr. Keller decided to refine her acclaimed program and target it just for the ladies. The fundamental principles of Influence It! can be applied to either sexes with specific tools added to each sex that pertains to their specific “innate” characteristics, which makes it such a success and is truly tailored to each gender and individual. And as far as the Real POWER for Women newsletter … although it is written primarily with women in mind, many of the principals can be applied to men as well as male CEOs and executives will find the information useful for their female staff members (managers, directors, C-level executives).
- What’s the difference between female empowerment and feminism?
Female empowerment incorporates the multi-dimensional aspects of women. It involves the transformation of power relative to self-perception, self-confidence and effecting change. The Feminism is a belief in, and support of, female equality, independence, success, strength, and enlightenment. However, there are some radical feminists (as opposed to liberal), that may have more extreme beliefs.
- What’s the difference between executive coaching and life coaching?
Executive coaching focuses primarily on professional development (although many of its ‘rewards’ will trickle into ones personal life) that result in extraordinary results. Whereby a life coach provides a more comprehensive evaluation and recommendations focusing on most anything that can affect an individual’s life – and then partners with you providing an action plan for making improvements.
- Do you offer personal coaching?
Yes. Oftentimes it’s necessary to invest in yourself through personalized, individual coaching. The techniques learned can be applied to business and personal life. And it is a nominal investment that will pay for itself ten-fold. Please email info@Karen-Keller.com to learn more about one-on-one personalized coaching.
- Are you available for group training, executive training, or corporate education?
Certainly. Many clients in the past have found tremendous success with their executives and managers in a group setting. After an initial evaluation of your company, a customized solution will be developed and training can be held either on site (your office) or at an offsite location (a hotel or conference center). - What’s the difference between male leadership techniques and female leadership techniques … wouldn’t many of the core principals be the same?
Yes. Many of the fundamental, core drivers are the same. However, as you probably gathered from the well-known book, Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus … men and women are inherently different. The ways each approaches a situation, conflict, strategy, or resolution is unique to their personality traits and their natural (or physiological) way of experiencing the world. Knowing and understanding how women and men are different allows Dr. Keller to create awareness, support action and leave room for reflection. Savvy leadership trainers, executive coaches, and life coaches will develop an action plan that nurtures, cultivates and refines those innate skills.
- How can the success of coaching be measured?
Measurement may be thought of in two distinct ways. First, there are the external indicators of performance: measure which can be seen and measured in the individual’s or team’s environment and performance. Second, there are internal indicators of success: measures which are inherent within the individual or team members being coached and can be measured by the individual or team with the help of the coach such as confidence, sense of accomplishment, autonomy, and relatedness.
- Do people use a coach when things are going well?
The traditional, not-so-long-ago thought was, ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’. Well, Dr. Keller believes that if you are not looking for how it may break and be proactive or preventative then you are missing an important element in business. Nothing stays the same forever. Methods, systems, processes are always changing so the question becomes, “How prepared are we for what can happen?” The wise person doesn’t wait for the rain to come before he/she builds the boat.
- What are some typical reasons someone might work with Dr. Keller?
Then there is something at stake and it is time sensitive and there is a desire to accelerate results. Another reason is that an individual has a style of relating that is ineffective or is not supporting the achievement of her goals. There is a gap in knowledge, skills, or resources. Dr. Keller works with people when success has become problematic for them. Any individual who wants to identify their core strengths and how to leverage them would seek coaching. However, many of Dr. Keller’s clients are already successful but want more. She then works with them to raise their competitiveness, strategy and focus.
