Remember the show, “Father Knows Best”? Well, it’s ‘Mother’ who really knows best.’ How? Her intuition – you know, that special built in radar every mother has. That sixth sense. The third eye.
The closeness of the bond between a mother and child has been long recognized, but we don’t always know the power intuition plays in that bond. Intuition is your IMMEDIATE knowledge as distinguished from your ‘mediate’ knowledge which is mainly based on logic or rationalization.
When is a mother’s intuition beneficial for her child? And does it ever go away? The answers are always and never.
Not all intuition comes to us through an emotional or mental process. It can be a physical process; for instance, when a mother on the west coast gets a gut pain and calls her daughter on the east coast only to find out she is in the hospital with an emergency appendectomy.
How does your intuition help your child?
1) Using your intuition sets a good example for our child to use theirs. In plain speak, when a child uses his or her intuition they are more safe, better in-tune with themselves and able to make healthy decisions. When children see mom open her eyes, they do too!
2) Using your intuition lessens your child’s anxieties. Employing your intuition makes you more confident. This confidence rubs off on everyone around you including, and most importantly, your child. Who doesn’t want a confident child?
3) Teaching your child about their intuition helps him or her gain insight into the world around them. Awareness is critical in solving problems, making decisions and planning. They learn their intuition is one of the most reliable sources of information.
4) Finally, when a child observes his or her mother trusting and exercising her intuition, they, too, learn to trust their own intuition, unleashing their creativity and imagination; becoming the next Einstein or Rembrandt!
