Parents and kids alike love building blocks because they perform so well…a succession of gentle steps from one solid foundation to the next till you reach the top. I encourage you to use what I call Influence Blocks! These are blocks that build your influence for any situation.

6 Building Blocks for Influence Success!

1. Define what being successful is to you.

Defining success frees you to become successful! Otherwise, you get trapped by ignorance and definitions set by others, marketing, or society.

How would life be different for you and those around you, if you knew you were wildly successful?

2. Own your brilliance.

Owning your brilliance means sharing it with the world.

What is your brilliance? How will the world be different when you joyously share your gifts?

3. Embrace your negative qualities.

Hiding our dark side or things we’re embarrassed about makes us feel less than who we are. Embrace them, learn from them and let them balance you.

Think of your most embarrassing quality. In what way has that quality helped you? In what ways has it hurt you? In what situations could using that quality make you stronger?

4. Accept nothing less than what you need to be your very best.

We spend much of our time chasing what we think we need, instead of satisfying our real needs.

If you have more than enough of whatever you need to be at your very best every day (love, money, time, recognition, appreciation, etc.), what could you accomplish that you aren’t able to accomplish now?

5. Be true to your word.

We all, unconsciously, look for inconsistency and listen for dissonance in order to protect ourselves.

If your actions do not match your words, who will ever trust you?

6. Always do your best.

Your best level of performance is flexible because it changes from moment to moment. Your best ability is going to be is different when you are healthy than when you’re ill for instance. So what does always doing your best really mean? Always doing your best means you have energy to spare.

Where are you not doing your best? What will you do to change that?
